🧭 Route and verification
Use the beginner route for the opening gates, the map guide for landmarks and the quest overview when the journal points to another objective.
- Open the journal and copy the exact objective wording.
- Pin the named destination and clear a short return route.
- Interact with the quest target, then reopen the journal.
- Continue only when the objective text changes or the completion reward appears.
The completion signal is the journal advancing, not simply reaching a landmark. If it does not advance, leave and re-enter the interaction area and check that the required item is in the player inventory before treating the result as a bug.
Follow the Restless Ghosts route
Complete First Steps and reach Woodcutting 20 before starting. Interact with the Crumbling Well in the ruined village between Bramblemead Valley and Temple Woods. Follow the spirit route: the first spirit is southwest of the well, the next is near the windmill west of the well, Finn is in a bramble-blocked cave along southern Bramblemead, and Kay is in the western ruins of Whispering Swamp. The well puts the Ghostspeak Amulet in the quest-item tab, not the normal inventory.
The four spirits are a time-gated route: Warren is in a dilapidated house southwest of the ruined village; Lazina is near the windmill; Finn is in the southern cave; and Kay is in the western Whispering Swamp ruins. They appear at night, from sunset to sunrise. After finding all four, return to the Temple Woods church cemetery and interact with the flower-pot statue; remembering the spirits there is the completion action. If a target is absent, check the time of day and exact named spirit before repeating the whole route.
Diagnose the quest state before repeating the route
Primary, secondary and tertiary quests use different progression paths, and later primary quests may depend on earlier completion. If a marker is missing, check the active quest category and prerequisites first, then reread the journal objective. Treat saved routes and older videos as orientation; follow the objective shown in your current journal.
At every step, match the exact objective wording with the named target and expected result. If the target is an NPC, wait for the conversation to finish; if it is an item or container, check the requested item in your inventory; if it is a location, confirm the nearby landmark or map feature. When the objective does not advance, this makes it clear which interaction failed without relying on coordinates that may change.
Track the active objective
Before leaving, read the exact journal objective, named target and required item. At the destination, check the landmark and interaction prompt, then reopen the journal to see whether the objective advanced or the required item was consumed.
If the state remains unchanged, check one condition at a time: prerequisite completion, correct target, exact item form, inventory space, and party or world state. Do not erase the save or throw away a rare item while diagnosing. Continue only when the journal shows the next action.
You’re done when
You are done when the journal or reward changes after the final interaction. If the objective remains unchanged, check the prerequisite, target, item form and inventory space before repeating the trip.
